Avon View girls lose close D1 semi-final to Citadel

WINDSOR, N.S. —

Two local teams are heading into the provincial rugby finals this afternoon.

Avon View’s senior boys’ rugby team defeated Sir John A 14-12 to advance to the Division 1 final against Dartmouth, while Hants East’s Division 2 team bested Central Kings 58-0 to advance to the final against Cole Harbour.

Avon View’s match up will be held on home turf while the Hants East final will be held at King’s-Edgehill School, both at 3 p.m.

Avon View senior girls’ rugby team lost a heart-breaking — but well-played — semi-final June 1 to Citadel High School. The score was close throughout, with Citadel taking a 10-5 win. That sets up Citadel’s Division 1 final at AV against North Nova. In the D2 semi-final, West Kings lost to Northumberland 24-17 and Dartmouth defeated Riverview 25-14 to set up the final, which will be hosted at KES, also at 3 p.m.
