West Kings wins Division 2 NSSAF high school girls hockey regionals

YARMOUTH, N.S. - Four teams have advanced to Division 2 NSSAF high school girls hockey provincials following regionals held in Yarmouth Feb. 27 and 28 where West Kings won the NSSAF Western Region Division 2 girls championship.

West Kings defeated the regionals host team Yarmouth Vikings 2-0 in the championship game, with West Kings goals scored by Brooklyn Bishop and Leah Alders.

West Kings went undefeated throughout the regionals tournament with a 5-0 win over Middleton and a 6-1 over Par-en-Bas in the round robin and a 2-1 win over Middleton in the semi-finals.

Yarmouth, which finished in second place, was undefeated going into the championship game with a 4-2 win over Bridgetown and a 5-1 win over Central Kings in the round robin. The Vikings had a 3-0 win over Par-en-Bas in the semi-finals.

Yarmouth will be hosting Division 2 high school hockey girls provincials at the Mariners Centre March 23 to 25.

Also advancing to provincials from these regionals are the Par-en-Bas team, which finished in third place. Par-en-Bas had a 3-0 win over Middleton in the round robin and defeated them again in the game following the semis by a score of 2-0.

Middleton was the fourth team to advance to provincials. Its 2-1 over Central Kings in the quarter-final knocked that team out of regionals.

Bridgetown was eliminated in the quarter-finals as well with a 5-1 loss to Par-en-Bas.
