RCMP investigation underway after lobster traps stolen near Isle Haute

HARBOURVILLE, N.S. —

A nautical thief has ruffled some feathers in the Bay of Fundy area.

On July 19, Kings District RCMP received a complaint from a fisherman in the area, who alleged that 50 of his traps had been taken from their location in the Bay of Fundy, near Isle Haute.

According to the complaint RCMP received, the buoys attached to the traps had been replaced with someone else’s buoys.

The owner went on to recover 30 of the missing traps but is still missing 20. Each lobster trap is valued at approximately $200.

An investigation into the matter of the lobster traps at large is ongoing, and the Kings District RCMP are advising anyone who can help to assist in the investigation.
