The new RCMP Headquarters in New Minas has been operation since April. Have you ever wanted a closer look at the new building?
Soon there will be an opportunity to do just that. The Kings District RCMP have extended an invitation to the public to check out its new location at 8833 Commercial St.
The event, starting at noon on Sept. 25 and running until 3:30 p.m., is an opportunity to get an up-close look at patrol vehicles ambulances and fire trucks.
The open house will feature detachment tours and a number of community partner displays.
“This event will provide a way for police to connect with their communities and increase awareness of the services they provide,” wrote Cst. Jeff Wilson, a spokesperson for the Kings District RCMP. “The RCMP is proud of their new building and encourage the public to attend this event.”
Members of various units will be there to demonstrate the specialized equipment they use and talk about the nature of their work, answering questions from the public. Officers and workers will be present at the open house, representing police dog services; community, indigenous and diversity policing services; the underwater recovery team; Crime Stoppers; Kings Senior Safety; recruiting; traffic services; the Forensic Identification Section; Valley Search and Rescue; the New Minas Fire Department; Mothers Against Drunk Driving; Citizens on Patrol; Domestic Violence Services and Victim Services and Emergency Health Services.
