ANNAPOLIS ROYAL, N.S. – It’s curtains up for a new take on an old fairy tale this weekend at King’s Theatre in Annapolis Royal.

‘Sleeping Beauty’ is an original pantomime musical comedy set in a place very reminiscent of Annapolis Royal and the Annapolis District Drama Group is delighted to be presenting the show.

Please note that a pantomime is not a silent production. It is more like a musical comedy. It is funny, romantic, and always has a happy ending. It is a feel-good time for adults and children alike.

‘Sleeping Beauty’ is set in the little town of Happiness Royal where everyone knows there are fairies, good and bad, young love, and laid back local people. ‘Sleeping Beauty’ was written by Judy Dickinson and directed by Brian Dickinson.

The cast of 20 includes Rhynn Winstead, Brian Rice, Maria Cheechoo, Miriam Orlando, Alex Hancock, Eloise Mailman, Wayne Currie, Colleen Rowland, Rachael Cheechoo, Karen Tomasino, Katie Anne De Nuke, John Kinsella, Sam Cooper, Nina Habinski, Soul Rae, Lily Habinski, Simon Bonnington, Shauna Aucoin, Doug Glenen, and Kristen Stenberg.

Performances are Nov. 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee Nov. 18.
