ASHDALE, N.S. – The Meander River Farm & Brewery received silver in the Specialty Cider & Perry category for their Small Lot Rose Petal Cider at the Atlantic Canadian Beer Awards on Oct. 28.
The cider is made from 100 per cent Nova Scotia apples and fresh rose petals grown on the farm.
The awards, held at the Stubborn Goat Gastropub, featured a total of 376 beer and cider entries representing breweries from across Atlantic Canada in 15 categories.
Meander River was presented with an award alongside four other Maritime cider houses including Chain-Yard (Halifax), Casa Nova Fine Beverages (Bear River), Yip Cider (New Brunswick), and Riverdale Orchard & Cidery (PEI).
The labels on the rose petal cider are all handwritten and printed with an original carved stamp design.
Campbell Bailey, media relations coordinator with Meander River said this specific cider is sold out until next year, returning when the roses are in bloom again.
Other small lot batches currently available include a blueberry cider, and ‘Lavandula,’ an estate honey and lavender cider.
