Fifth spot after regular season

BRIDGETOWN, NS - The Bridgetown Atom C Hawks picked up the banner, the trophy, and gold medals when they won the Annapolis Valley Minor Hockey League championship earlier this month.

They had a great start to the year with some big wins, but suffered some losses as the season progressed, finishing the regular season with a 10-16 win-loss record, good for fifth spot in the AVMHL Eastern Conference.

There were three playoff divisions with the Hawks up against the top four regular season finishers in the Eastern Conference. The second division was the entire western conference, and the third division was made up of the 6th to 9th place teams of the Eastern Conference.

On the weekend of February 16-18 the Hawks played and won all three of their playoff games, knocking off the top three teams in the Eastern Conference.

The wins meant that they would play for the AVMHL Atom C championship. They played this on Sunday, March 4 in Clare playing Yarmouth 3, the top team in the Western Conference.

The Jamie Ward/Jesse Spicer-coached Hawks edged Yarmouth 4-3 to win their gold medals, championship trophy (that will stay in the Bridgetown arena for the next year) along with the championship banner that will hang in the Bridgetown arena.
