The Vandenberg Family helps rake leaves at the Historic Gardens during Spring Clean-up. Volunteers are invited to help ready the Gardens for Spring all week long, April 8 to 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call 532-7018 for information.

Gardens Clean-Up Week

April 8 to 13 It’s Historic Gardens Spring Clean-up Week in Annapolis Royal. From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. you can grab a rake and join staff and volunteers at the Historic Gardens in Annapolis Royal to clean up the grounds and prepare for the spring garden season. Staff and volunteers will be there each day, and welcome any time you can contribute - even an hour or two would be greatly appreciated. Refreshments provided. Call 532-7018 for information.


Macdonald Museum Open

Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum is now open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday at 21 School Street, Middleton. See the Nova Scotia Museum's antique clock and watch exhibit, a recreated classroom and general store, the Rusty Nail exhibit and lots more. Call to Artists

By April 26 “Inspired by Magnolias,” Chapel Gallery, ARTsPLACE. Calling artists to submit up to two works inspired by magnolias (previously exhibited work will not be accepted). All media accepted. Palliative Care Training

Mid-Valley Palliative Care Services are holding a training program for new volunteers in April and May on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at Soldiers’ Memorial. Youth Park

Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 inductions of the Sports Heritage Wall of Fame until April 30. Entrants are requested in athletes, builder and team categories. Forms are available at Middleton Town Recreation Dept., Macdonald Museum, the A.C. Spectator office or from any of the Directors of the Board.


Skate Park Meetings

Full Breakfast

Woodlot Workshop

April 13 & 14 Mersey Tobeatic Research Institute offers a two-day introduction on sustainable woodlots for those new to woodlot management or anyone that has a woodlot and isn’t aware of their options. But everyone is welcome. Topics include: tree ID, tree selection, Acadian Forest restoration, forest values, species at risk, demo of using horse, tractor and iron horse for tree removal. Knit at the Library

April 16 Knit at the Library Tuesday, April 16 at 2 p.m. at Bridgetown and Area Library. No matter if you're novice or pro, come and knit at the library with others who share the pleasure of needles and yarn. The library knitting group meets on the third Tuesday of every month.


Family Board Game Night

April 16 Family Board Game Night on Tuesday, April 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Bridgetown and Area Library. Enjoy some old-fashioned family fun at the Bridgetown Library.  Drop in for a game or two, or stay the entire evening. Beginning on April 16th, Board Game Night takes place the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.   (Adults and Youth Ages 10+)


Wadeville Cemetery 

April 17 The Annual Meeting of the Wadeville Cemetery will be held on April 17 at 7 p.m. at the Granville Centre Hall, Granville Centre. Lot owners are urged to attend.


Coffee Party

April 19 Kingston and District Health Auxiliary will be holding a Coffee Party from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Kingston Fire Hall. Proceeds for Palliative Care.



April 20 Pour for the Cure at the Middleton Fire Hall, 2 to 4 p.m. Cost is $5. Also bake table, craft table and door prizes. Sponsored by Nictaux Hospital Auxiliary and Nictaux Baptist Friendly Club. Proceeds for Cdn. Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic.


Lobster Dinner

April 20 There will be a Lobster Dinner in support of the Bridgetown Curling Club on Saturday, April 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. $20 per plate includes lobster, roll, potato salad, coleslaw and dessert.

Grad Bottle Drive

April 20 Held by the Grad Committee of MRHS in the Middleton area with proceeds to Safe Grad activities. To contribute, please have your bottles ready for door-to-door pickup, at roadside, or drop at Hankinson’s Depot that same day and say it’s for MRHS Grads. Also early drop off at 419 Main St., Middleton.

Reg Baird Talk

April 21 Attention: Brook Trout Fishers and other Environmentalists. Reg Baird will discuss and show slides about an on-going research project on the state of the brook trout population in the Mersey River System, on Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Annapolis Royal Library. This will the final presentation in the annual "An Afternoon with Friends" lecture series for 2013. Sponsored by the Friends of the Annapolis Royal Library, "An Afternoon with Friends" presentations are free and open to all.

Autism Fundraiser

April 30 A Soup Luncheon served by the Middleton Fire Department Auxiliary (the Fireflies) will be held on Tuesday, April 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Middleton Fire Hall. Animal Rescue Workshop
