WOLFVILLE, NS – The Deep Roots Music Festival launched Thursday with a packed audience for Lennie Gallant and his Searching for Abegweit show.

Dave Carmichael, long time programmer for the Wolfville festival, says tickets sales are going well and he shared some of his picks for top talent.
Friday evening’s main stage concert features the Yves Lambert Trio from Quebec.
Carmichael says, “he is super revered in ‘la belle province.”
Francois Coté will be hosting the evening, which also includes Alex Cuba, Kaia Kater, Jonathan Byrd and the Pickup Cowboy and Corin Raymond.
Coco Love Alcorn will be backed up by 40 members of the Annapolis Valley Honour Choir on the main stage Sept. 23. CBC Radio’s Bill Roach will be hosting.
“That should be special,” Carmichael anticipates. He is also looking forward to Emily Millard & the Aerialists, Bill and his son, Joel Plaskett, along with Howie MacDonald and Mary Beth Carty.
“Emily Millard is one of the best singers in Canada right now,” Carmichael believes.
On Saturday, Carmichael says, there’s a terrific ticket offer of $23 to access every show of the day. There are late night shows both days and a dance part at the Wolfville Farmers Market on Saturday.
Sunday afternoon the music starts winding down with the Festival Finale concern that has lined up Naming the Twins, the Jill Boudreau Band, The Dearlies and Bluesmobile. Host Darrin Harvey will help present the Valley Arts Award.
