Celebrate Canada 150 and fill a time capsule in Bear River

Published on June 28, 2017

Canada Day in Bear River is bigger and better than ever for Canada 150. One of the most popular events is the Homemade Pie Auction. The pies fetch a good price, but sometimes they don’t make it home before they’re shared and devoured on picnic tables at the village’s waterfront.

REAR RIVER - Bear River will celebrate Canada 150 with a ton of fun and food on the waterfront July 1 – and they’re even filling a time capsule.

The little village that straddles two counties will be putting on a big show that kicks off with a yard sale at 10 a.m. and finishes with fireworks at 9:45 p.m. In between there’s a hotdog barbecue, crafts for kids, musical entertainment, a ham and baked bean supper, and a big Canada 150 birthday cake.

Throw in a giant waterslide, a homemade pie auction, and a guided tour of the village and it makes for a full day.
