KENTVILLE - There’s a new call centre in the works for Kentville.
David Attard, senior vice president and director of field services for Logit Group, recently confirmed that the Toronto-based company is setting up a location in Aberdeen Place.
The local site will predominantly be used for administrative purposes and training sessions, with the bulk of the part-time agents filling work-from-home positions.
“I need to find in the vicinity of 80 to 100 people over the course of the next couple of months,” Attard said.
The goal is to have about 40 people logging for every shift. The majority of the scripted outbound calling will take place in the evening and weekends, Attard said.
“We’re not telemarketing. We’re not in the business of ringing people up and asking them for money,” he stressed.
Rather, Attard describes The Logit Group as an established “data collection execution company.”
“If you want your data collected, we’ll execute it in any way, shape or form,” he said, listing political polling, product research and government work as some examples of projects the agents will handle.
The Kentville office will add to Logit Group’s wide-reaching network, which includes locations in Ontario, Montreal and Kansas.
“One of the reasons we’re in Nova Scotia is that we’re getting more Nova Scotia work and it’s awkward calling from the other provinces,” said Attard, noting that most of the dialing from the Kentville agents will be directed within the Atlantic Canada, or other regions with similar time zones.
Attard believes Kentville’s location within the Annapolis Valley is strategic.
“It allows us to pull (employees) from a very large area, and not just Kentville,” he said.
“You try to find an area that is looking for work and particularly the kind of work that we’re offering.”
The company expects to start hiring and training staff in late November to early December.
