BRIEF: Despite some controversy surrounding a ruling during the round robin, Paterson’s Boys fought their way to a convincing 6-4 victory over Graves’ Value Foods to claim the A-Division championship and off season bragging rights at this weekend’s 2009 Lawrencetown Cup. The Spectator has yet to determine exactly when the twice-a-year, four-on-four, open-to-all-comers tournament got its start, but memories stretch back to at least the 1980s. Thanks to a donation from K&J Truck Center of Middleton, two new trophies will commemorate tournament victors. So, Paterson’s Boys also laid claim to a special honour: the first plaque on an actual Lawrencetown Cup.
