Six local major midget teammates were picked in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft June 9.
Zachary Moody was chosen in the second round by the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, 32nd overall. The 16-year-old Valley Wildcats winger is from Margaretsville, Annapolis County.
Nicholas Blanchard, also 16, went in the fourth round, 62nd overall, to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Blanchard, from Kentville, played centre for the Wildcats.
Blanchard and Moody's linemate Tyler Brown, 17, from Annapolis County, was chosen by Cape Breton in the ninth round, 150th overall.
Wildcats' defenceman Gareth Nicholson, 17, Kentville, was also picked up by Cape Breton. The sixth-round pick was chosen 107th overall.
Justin Dickinson, 17, went to the Saint John Sea Dogs in the 10th round, 183rd overall. The forward is from Newport, Hants County.
In the 14th and final round, Steven Brooker was chosen 241st overall by the Gatineau Olympiques. The 17-year-old 'Cats defenceman is from Wolfville.
