An enjoyable afternoon of hockey was held at the Bridgetown arena on December 26th, when the alumni games for Bridgetown Regional High School were played.
Brothers and sisters played with and against their siblings and fathers played against their sons as hockey players from the 1970s, ‘80s, and ‘90s took on two teams from the 90s and 2000s -- and the current high school team.
Hockey gear was brought out of storage for this auspicious occasion as goaltenders stood on their heads to make saves worthy of the NHL. Forwards stick-handled down the ice and defensemen and women did their best to stop them. The penalty boxes were conspicuously vacant as the players pitted their skills to see who would prove to be the top team of 2006.
Appreciative family and friends cheered for their favorite team, sometimes as many as three as the three brothers played on different teams.
Steve Clayton, the organizer of the event could be found with a whistle or microphone in hand as he refereed or announced for the games.
The money raised during the event was in support of the BRHS Trojan hockey team who play their home games on Friday nights, at 7:30, in the Bridgetown arena.
Come out and support your local high school team as they take to the ice in search of another provincial championship.
Results from the six games were as follows:
Game 1 Toole/Agombar 6 Boyd/Harris 1
Game 2 Bent/Graves 3 BRHS 6
Game 3 Toole/Agombar 6 Bent/Graves 1
Game 4 BRHS 0 Boyd/Harris 5
