The word’s out – the Middleton Scrabble Club is inviting you to play Scrabble the first Tuesday of the month at the Rosa M. Harvey Library in Middleton. Play begins at 6:30 p.m.
Anyone who enjoys crossword puzzles, crypto quotes, or lexicons, will likely enjoy this activity.
“During the long winter months it is nice to get out and socialize with like-minded individuals,” said club spokesman Tom Ross. “Play is non-competitive, and a good chance to enlarge your vocabulary and keep yourself mentally challenged.”
He said all ages are welcome, especially students.
“Young people have frequently been responsible for the introduction and evolution of new words into the language,” he said, “for example, the most recent edition of the Official Scrabble Dictionary admits the word ‘ZA’ – a diminutive of the word ‘pizza.’”
Ross said prospective members don’t have to worry about their playing level -- abilities range from cottage level participants to avid internet players. Word lists and the wisdom of more experienced players are available.
If this is an activity you are interested in, come out to the Middleton Library on the first Tuesday of each month until summer, or call the library at 825-3248 or Tom Ross at 825-6906.
