We asked Greg Kerr, West Nova Conservative candidate:

1. Why are you running?

I have always enjoyed working with and for the people of West Nova and I have brought, and will continue to bring,  a strong voice for West Nova in Ottawa.  I believe in and I am pleased with the direction our government is moving our economy, jobs and their active interest in the priorities of West Nova.

2. Three of the four of you we have seen on the ballot - and two in office - before: what do you offer this  time around?

I am very pleased to have been working with West Nova communities to bring about their priorities and initiatives.  I want to continue with these projects; however, the job has been interrupted by this unnecessary election and I’m looking forward to getting back on task.

3. What are the top-three challenges facing West Nova?

a. Jobs and the economy:    Although the government has brought nearly half a million new jobs across Canada and we have been working hard to stimulate the West Nova economy, we still have a long way to go.

b. Transportation in West Nova: Given our geographic location, transportation will always be a high priority and a challenge to all levels of governments to help resolve  the gaps in our transportation links, such as the West Nova ferry services.   We need long-term, sustainable ferry services.

c. Completely abolish the long-gun registry.

4. Talk about transportation links in the riding: no trains, poor highways, the Digby and Yarmouth ferry links…. Where is the plan?

The following are important to transportation in West Nova:

- Completion of the important passing lanes between Kingston and Coldbrook.

- Continue working closely with communities to ensure long-term, sustainable ferry services.

- Continue to invest in the 100 series highways, bridges, and other infrastructure.

5. Is your federal leader an asset in the West Nova campaign?

Absolutely, yes! He will keep the economy as number one priority. The record speaks for itself!

The Kings County Advertiser, Register and The Annapolis Spectator will be hosting a candidates’ forum in West Nova April 18 at West Kings High School. Doors open at 6:30.
