A temperature change resulted in a rash of motor vehicle accidents early last week in various parts of Annapolis County. Police were called to a rapid succession of early morning crashes on Tuesday after several drivers were caught unaware of black ice.

The Annapolis police responded to 103 calls for assistance between November 16 and November 23. Among these were nine traffic accidents, five domestic matters, two false alarms, and 11 false 911s. Following are highlights of these calls: (Note: Due to the sensitive nature of cases concerning sexual assault, children’s welfare and mental health issues, not all calls are considered appropriate for publication) - November 16 at 9:17 a.m. Police received a mischief complaint in Cornwallis after a vehicle was damaged. - November 16 at 1:08 p.m. Police were called to an assault in Nictaux. One individual is facing charges. - November 16 at 1:41 p.m. Police were called to Nictaux after a property was threatened. - November 17 at 9:02 a.m. A person was reported missing in Middleton, the individual was later located. - November 17 at 9:14 a.m. Police were called to Clementsport in response to a break and enter. - November 17 at 1:57 p.m. A Clementsport caller reported a complaint of possible identity theft. - November 17 at 5:57 p.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle traffic accident in Brickton. No injuries were reported. - November 17 at 6:22 p.m. Police were called to Wilmot in response to an assault and complaint of mischief. The matter remains under investigation. - November 17 at 10:55 p.m. A 40-year-old male was charged with assault and mischief following an incident in Nictaux. - November 18 at 8:51 Police were called to a traffic accident in Tupperville after a motorist and a deer collided. - November 18 at 10:38 a.m. A break and enter was reported into a residential outbuilding in Carleton Corner. A gas tank was reported missing. - November 18 at 4:47 p.m. Police were called to Granville Ferry after threats were uttered. - November 18 at 10:37 p.m. A caller reported that two youth were throwing sticks at vehicles in Clementsport and running away. - November 19 6:14 a.m. Police were called to a motor vehicle accident in Meadowvale after a pick-up truck rolled over. - November 19 at 6:32 a.m. Police were en route to an accident in Clementsport where a white PT

Cruiser went in the ditch, when they were diverted to another more serious accident. - November 19 at 6:52 a.m. Police were called to a traffic accident in Albany Cross after a vehicle went off the road. - November 19 at 7:12 a.m. Police were called to a single-vehicle accident in Farmington after a driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over. - November 19 at 8:43 a.m. Police were called to a traffic accident in Clementsvale after a vehicle hit black ice and the driver lost control. - November 19 at 11:02 a.m. A caller reported that a young male had approached the house and asked to take a water sample. Later investigation revealed that the male had been working for the town. - November 19 at 3:48 p.m. Police were called to a traffic accident in Annapolis Royal. - November 19 at 4:12 p.m. A patrol intercepted a vehicle in West Dalhousie and determined that driver was under a suspension. A 50-year-old individual is facing charges of driving while suspended. - November 19 at 4:59 p.m. A caller reported a disturbance involving a large group of people in Bear River. Police responded and arrested one male who is charged with possession of stolen property. The Digby RCMP will continue to the investigation. - November 19 at 10:44 p.m. A Lawrencetown area caller reported that a bicycle had been stolen. - November 20 at 4:07 a.m. Police were called to Torbrook after a firearm was pointed. One 44-year-old male is facing charges of pointing a firearm and assault and is scheduled to appear in court in January. Another 26 year-old male was arrested on a warrant. - November 20 at 10:01 a.m. A caller reported that mailboxes had been damaged in Margaretsville. Stop signs and other signs were also removed and found in a ditch. - November 20 at 12:37 p.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle accident in Karsdale. One person was trapped. One male was transported to hospital. - November 20 at 2:14 p.m. A caller reported a break and enter into a residence in Bridgetown East. Food items were taken. - November 20 at 4:26 p.m. Police were called to a commercial property in Bridgetown after a customer threatened and assaulted staff. One male was later located and is facing a variety of charges. - November 20 7:04 p.m. A Middleton caller reported a mischief complaint after two teenage girls were ringing doorbells and running away. - November 20 at 11:32 p.m. Police were called to an assault in Bear River area. One male is facing charges of assault and two breeches of an undertaking. - November 21 at 8:53 a.m. A caller reported a break and enter into a Wilmot business. A small amount of charity money was stolen and a laptop computer was also taken. - November 21 at 11:26 a.m. Police were called to Bridgetown in response to an assault. An area male aged 20 is facing various charges including being found unlawfully in a dwelling and mischief under $5,000. - November 21 at 2:33 p.m. A caller reported that one male on a bicycle had been bitten by a dog in Inglisville. The matter was referred to the animal control officer. - November 21 at 4:19 p.m. Police were called to a single-vehicle accident in South Williamston. The driver was transported to hospital. - November 21 at 4:51 p.m. A caller reported that graffiti had been sprayed on a commercial building on the Stronach Mountain Rd. - November 21 at 8:32 p.m. A caller reported that youth were trying to gain access to a Lawrencetown roof. A patrol was made and failed to find the youth, but discovered that a bike rack had been pushed up to the side of the building. - November 21 at 10:23 p.m. A Lawrencetown caller reported a complaint of theft under $5,000. - November 21 at 10:55 p.m. Police received a noise complaint in Wilmot possibly involving a large number of people. - November 21 at 11:15 p.m. A 911 hang-up call resulted in a patrol to a residence in Granville Ferry where a party was under way. The person responsible for the property was cautioned. - November 22 at 2:14 a.m. Police received a report of an impaired driver in Wilmot, a patrol intercepted the vehicle and determined the individual was not yet driving. - November 22 at 3:44 p.m. A break and enter was reported in Port George. A television, stereo, and an air compressor were taken. - November 22 at 3:44 p.m. A caller reported a person trespassing in Paradise. - November 22 at 7:40 p.m. A Middleton caller reported a disturbance after four-wheelers were on the road.
