Annapolis RCMP received several calls in the past week about driving offences on the highways and roadways of Annapolis County.
Two callers reported seeing vehicles speeding on Highway 10 in Nictaux, while another claimed to have seen an erratic driver disobey a stop sign at the intersection of highways 10 and 201.
Dangerous driving was reported in Torbrook, Moschelle and Middleton, while possible intoxicated drivers were spotted in Lequille, Middleton, and Paradise. Police also investigated a call about vehicles racing in Inglewood.
Annapolis County RCMP responded to 108 calls for assistance from August 10 to 17. Of these, eight were false 911 calls, seven were motor vehicle accidents, six were false alarms, and two were domestic disputes.

The following are highlights of police calls from Aug. 10 to Aug. 17:
- August 10, 11:40 a.m. Bridgetown. CDs were reported stolen from a residence.
- August 10, 5:39 p.m. Inglisville. Police were called to investigate a report of suspicious persons lurking in the bushes. RCMP found the individuals and determined they had been geocaching.
- August 10, 6:17 p.m. Torbrook. Fishing equipment and an outboard motor were reported stolen from a boat.
- August 10, 11:13 p.m. Middleton. Police were called regarding an intoxicated youth with a knife at a residence. RCMP attended and, after a short foot chase, arrested the youth and charged him with three counts of assault with a weapon. A court date for the youth is pending.
- August 11, 1:44 a.m. Parker’s Cove. Police were called to deal with an intoxicated tourist.
- August 11, 8:54 a.m. Granville Centre. A caller reported that a man was visiting homes in the area asking for money. Police found the man, spoke to him, and the matter was resolved.
- August 11, 12:54 p.m. Bridgetown. Police responded to an alleged break-and-enter attempt at a service building. No entry was gained.
- August 11, 2:22 p.m. A driver hit a deer on Highway 101.
- August 11, 6:51 p.m. Police helped resolve a dispute between neighbours.
- August 11, 7:50 p.m. RCMP investigated a report of an alleged assault on a man by an intoxicated male with whom he was acquainted.
- August 11, 11:17 p.m. Lequille. A caller reported a possible impaired driver on Highway 101. Police contacted the driver and determined he was not intoxicated, just tired.
- August 12, 2:01 p.m. Police investigated a report of people on ATVs riding through a farmer’s field and allegedly knocking down hay bales. Police spoke with the ATV drivers and determined they had been mapping GPS coordinates for the farmer.
- August 12, 8:43 p.m. Deep Brook. A vehicle caught on fire after its driver stopped to use a pay phone. A passing motorist alerted the driver to the blaze.
- August 12, 9:01 p.m. Milford. RCMP were called to help locate a youth, who was part of a camp program, who was missing. The youth was located a short time later.
- August 13, 12:04 a.m. Middleton. Police investigated a disturbance at an apartment.
- August 13, 11:34 am. Wilmot. Solar lights were reported stolen from a residence.
- August 13, 2:58 p.m. Centrelea. A caller reported a break-in in progress at a commercial building. A police service dog searched the interior of the building, but the suspect was not located.
- August 13, 11:22 p.m. Mochelle. A five-horsepower Honda motor was reported stolen from a boat.
-August 14, 1:13 a.m. Granville Centre. RCMP investigated a report of a female in her 30s knocking on doors and asking for a ride.
- August 14, 2:26 a.m. Meadowvale. Police responded to a call about a female yelling and screaming. The woman was not located and the incident is still under investigation.
- August 14, 2:21 p.m. Bridgetown. A delivery vehicle went the wrong way on a one-way street and damaged town property.
- August 14, 3:35 p.m. Upper Granville. An outboard motor for a boat was reported stolen after it was accidentally left at the wharf.
- August 14, 3:43 p.m. Middleton. A business vehicle travelling on Highway 101 was reported to be tailgating and passing vehicles in a manner unsafe for oncoming traffic. The vehicle was stopped by Kings County RCMP and the driver was charged with passing in the face of oncoming traffic.
- August 14, 11:32 p.m. Wilmot. Police responded to a disturbance at a residence. The matter was resolved.
- August 15, 12:40 a.m. Nictaux Falls. The driver of a vehicle travelling west on Highway 10 lost control of the car and slammed into a guardrail, damaging the guardrail. No one was injured.
- August 15, 7:57 a.m. Wilmot. A pop machine outside a business was reported damaged. The incident is still under investigation.
- August 15, 11:42 a.m. Wilmot. A woman reported that her purse had been stolen. However, the purse was found on Highway 1 later in the day and returned with nothing taken. According to police, the purse may have been left on the trunk of the woman’s car when she drove away.
- August 15, 1 p.m. Upper Clements. A person called police about a dog locked in a vehicle in sweltering heat. Police attempted to locate the dog’s owner.
- August 15, 10:32 p.m. Lequille. RCMP investigated a call about an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.
- August 15, 10:36 p.m. Lequille. Police responded to a call about two men fighting outside a business.
- August 16, 10:32 a.m. Wilmot. A four-wheeler and other items were reported stolen from an outbuilding.
- August 16, 2:50 p.m. Wilmot. A caller reported receiving threatening text messages.
- August 16, 4:53 p.m. Meadowvale. A person reported damage to window screens on their house.
- August 16, 7:13 p.m. Bridgetown. Two people, who were known to each other, were arrested in connection with an assault.
- August 16, 8:30 p.m. Middleton. Police investigated a report of a person failing to pay a taxi fare.
- August 16, 8:46 p.m. Paradise. RCMP issued a 24-hour suspension to a driver with a blood-alcohol content over .05. The driver’s vehicle was towed.
- August 16, 10:09 p.m. Parker’s Cove. A single-vehicle accident sent two people to hospital with minor injuries.
