Middleton RCMP recently recovered a set of keys on Highway 10. The key chain contains a number of keys including car keys to a Ford and Pontiac. Anyone looking for these keys is asked to contact the Middleton detachment at 825-2000.

The police are warning residents to be aware of a possible new telephone scam operating in Annapolis County. On July 24, a Bridgetown resident contacted police after someone posing as a telemarketer tried to solicit a $100 donation for a police fund.

The RCMP wish to advice the public there is no campaign to raise money in the area and anyone who receives a similarly suspicious call is asked to contact Phone Busters 1-888-495-8501.

The Annapolis RCMP responded to 103 calls for assistance during the week of July 20 through 27. Among these were: 10 false 911s; four false alarms; 24 traffic incidents, and seven domestic matters. (Note: due to the sensitive nature of cases involving sexual assault, children’s welfares and mental health issues, not all calls are considered appropriate for publication.)

Following are highlights of this week’s calls: -July 20 at 1:39 p.m. Bridgetown. A hit and run accident was reported after a motorist returned to discover minor damage to a parked vehicle. -July 20 at 2:07 p.m. Port Lorne. A property owner reported that a cherry tree had been destroyed. -July 20 at 5:42 p.m. Granville Ferry. A caller reported a possible speeding driver unsafely passing other vehicles. A patrol was made but failed to intercept. -July 20 at 7:39 p.m. Deep Brook. A property damage complaint resulted in an adult male being charged with mischief and breeching the conditions of an undertaking. He is scheduled to appear in court in September. -July 20 at 11:31 p.m. Bear River. Police received a report of an unwanted person. A patrol was made and police escorted the offender from the property. -July 20 at 11:58 p.m. Nictaux West. Police received a report that suspicious cars were parked at an old quarry and blasting music. Patrols were made to address the ongoing issues. -July 21 at 00:19 a.m. Graywood. A caller reported a possible break and enter into a residence. A patrol was made and determined that former tenets were picking up their belongings. -July 21 at 00:22 a.m. Middleton. A report was made that a possible fight was taking place at an apartment block. A patrol was made and one adult female was lodged in cells overnight and released the next day. The woman is scheduled to appear in court in September. -July 21 at 6:22 p.m. Highway 201 Nictaux. Police were called to a single vehicle accident after a driver went off the road and struck a guardrail. The vehicle was towed, but no injuries were reported. -July 21 at 10:09 p.m. Melvern Square. A caller reported that suspicious people were trespassing on private property. A patrol was made but failed to confirm the identity of the two individuals. -July 22 at 12 p.m. Torbrook. Police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the area. A patrol was made but failed to identify the driver or vehicle. -July 23 at 1:25 a.m. Kejimkujik. Park staff reported that occupants of a campsite were causing a disturbance. A patrol was made and found the occupants were asleep or passed out. The following day another patrol was made. Officers contacted the campers and determined that a possible assault had taken place. One male is facing charges and is scheduled to appear in court in September. -July 23 at 4:59 p.m. Highway 101, Lequille. Police received a report of a dangerous driver after a vehicle with Washington plates was seen unsafely passing other vehicles. A patrol was made but failed to intercept the offending vehicle. -July 23 at 5:53 p.m. Middleton. A caller reported that an unknown male was darting in and out of traffic and causing a traffic hazard. A patrol was made and contacted the individual. The matter was resolved without further incident. -July 23 at 5 p.m. Bridgetown. Police received a report of a possible impaired driver, after a citizen noticed a driver struck the shoulder several times. The vehicle was located at the ESSO station and the driver was found to be an elderly man with no signs of impairment. -July 23 at 10:36 p.m. Wilmot. Police received a report of two youth dressed in masks and Halloween costumes were jumping out of a ditch and disrupting traffic. A patrol was made and determined the youth were just bored and having fun. No charges were warranted. -July 24 at 00:34 a.m. Bear River. A concerned citizen contacted police concerning an all-night logging operation in the area. Police referred the matter to the county’s bylaw enforcement officer who can address the issues under municipal law. --July 24 at 12:38 p.m. Phinney’s Cove. A caller reported damage to a vehicle after discovering a smashed windshield. A suspect has been identified and the matter remains under investigation. -July 24 at 2:55 p.m. Moshers Corner. A report of a loud bang revealed that a truck had lost a tire and rim. The tire rolled across the citizen’s property, crashing through tables that had been set up for a yard sale. No accident was reported and the vehicle has not been identified. -July 24 at 9:47 p.m. Highway 101 Deep Brook. Police received a report of an intoxicated female walking in the middle of the road. A patrol was made, but failed to locate the individual. Police determined that a motorist had stopped and picked up the woman. -July 25 at 8:02 a.m. Clementsport. HRM police requested Annapolis police to locate an individual who was vacationing at a family cottage in the area. -July 25 at 2:17 p.m. Meadowvale. Police received a report of a possible violation of probation. Police attended and confirmed the offender was in violation of conditions. -July 25 at 3:47 p.m. East Dalhousie. Police were called to a single vehicle accident after a driver went in the ditch. The vehicle was towed, but no injuries were reported. -July 25 at 9:01 p.m. Highway 1 in Wilmot. Police received a report of an erratic driver. Kingston RCMP intercepted the vehicle. The driver appeared okay and the incident was determined to be the result of poor driving habits. -July 25 at 9:55 p.m. Lawrencetown. A citizen contacted police after seeing flares on the North Mountain. Police determined that it wasn’t a flare, but fireworks at the Port George Jamboree. -July 25 at 11:02 p.m. Lawrencetown a motorist reported that a young male was lying across the road and drinking beer. The motorist spoke to the individual who crawled off to the side of the road. A patrol was made, but the individual had left the scene. -July 25 at 11:06 p.m. Granville Ferry. A noise complaint regarding a loud party resulted in a patrol and the matter was resolved. -July 26 at 9:14 p.m. Lawrencetown. Police received a report of a fight involving 10 individuals near the fire hall. Members were dispatched from Middleton and Bridgetown, but they failed to find a fight in progress. -July 27 at 6:26 a.m. Highway 101 Clementsport. Police received a report that a large brown horse was walking on the side of the highway causing a potential hazard for motorists.
