The RCMP responded to 80 calls for assistance during the week of November 10 through 17. Among these were nine motor vehicle accidents, five false 911s, six false alarms, and two calls related to domestic matters. Following are highlights of these calls:
--November 10 at 4:07 p.m. Police received reports from Middleton that a girl was going door to door on the pretense of collecting money for the new school gymnasium.
--November 10 at 4:28 p.m. Police were called back to Middleton in response to an assault between parties known to each other.
--November 10 at 10:28 p.m. A motor vehicle accident was reported in Springfield after a car went in the ditch.
--November 11 at 12:36 a.m. Police were called to New Albany after a driver swerved to avoid a deer, lost control of the vehicle and went in the ditch.
--November 11 at 8:41 a.m. A possible break and enter in progress was reported in Wilmot when suspicious individuals were seen with a ladder outside a residence. A patrol was made and determined the individuals had been asked to look after a cat while the homeowners were away. The key was not available and the pet sitters were trying to gain entry.
--November 11 at 9:20 a.m. Police received a report that an intoxicated male was lying on the 101 Highway near the overpass at Cornwallis Park. A patrol was made, but the male had left the scene.
--November 11 at 2:55 p.m. A gun was reported stolen from a Hillsburn hunting camp. The caller later discovered that a friend had borrowed the gun.
--November 11 at 9:53 p.m. A chainsaw was reported stolen from Victoria Vale and later recovered. Charges are pending.
--November 12 at 9:10 a.m. A pedestrian reported a motorist for dangerous driving after nearly being struck at a crosswalk.
--November 13 at 1:27 a.m. A motorist reported a traffic hazard after nearly hitting a cow on the 101 Highway near Bridgetown. The driver was able to stop and allow the bovine to moove along.
--November 13 at 9:02 a.m. A Margaretsville resident struck a deer.
--November 13 at 9:01 a.m. A gas-and-go was reported in Nictaux. The registered owner of the car was contacted about the matter.
--November 13 at 10:10 p.m. Police received a report that an unhappy client was causing a disturbance outside a Bridgetown business.
--November 13 at 12:27 p.m. A caller reported seeing a trespasser on Village property.
--November 13 at 1:37 p.m. A caller reported damage to a power meter that was located on town property.
--November 13 at 3:32 p.m. Extensive property damage was reported in Paradise after a vehicle was repeatedly driven into a second vehicle. Attempted break and enter and extensive damage to a motor home was also reported.
--November 12 at 7:32 p.m. A motorist struck a deer on the Highway 201. No injuries to the occupants of the vehicle were reported.
--November 13 at 8:20 p.m. A youth was reported missing in Lawrencetown. He was later located by police and returned home, after having missed his bus in Kentville.
--November 14 at 00:40 a.m. An assault was reported in Nictaux.
--November 14 at 11:26 a.m. A Middleton business reported a shoplifter, police apprehended the suspect.
--November 14 at 12:45 p.m. Police received a report of vehicles parked on the sidewalk in Lawrencetown.
--November 14 at 5:01 p.m. A caller reported a dangerous driver on the 101 near Lawrencetown. The registered owner was located and cautioned.
--November 14 at 5:05 p.m. An assault was reported in Nictaux.
--November 14 at 5:35 p.m. A break and enter into a Waldec residence was reported. The matter remains under investigation.
--November 14 at 10:12 p.m. A traffic collision was reported in Wilmot. A driver swerved to avoid a branch and went off the road. Possible minor injuries were reported.
--November 15 at 3:38 a.m. Police were called to assist EHS with a medical emergency in Middleton.
--November 15 at 1:51 p.m. A collision was reported on town property in Middleton.
--November 15 at 5:42 p.m. A sign was stolen from the Exhibition grounds in Lawrencetown and later recovered
--November 15 at 5:42 p.m. A dangerous driver was reported in Wilmot, after a horse trailer with no lights narrowly missed a collision.
--November 15 at 9:18 p.m. A traffic collision was reported in Margaretsville. No injuries were reported, but some property damage resulted.
--November 15 at 9:24 p.m. A bicycle was reported stolen in Lawrencetown.
--November 15 at 10:06 p.m. A break and enter was reported at the legion in Lawrencetown. Some damage occurred as a result of the suspect gaining entry and a small quantity of cash was taken. The matter remains under investigation.
--November 16 at 00:43 a.m. A caller reported threats in Bear River.
--November 16 at 00:59 a.m. A suspicious driver was reported in Nictaux. A patrol was made and intercepted the driver, who refused to pull over. The vehicle was located and three Annapolis County men were arrested.
--November 16 at 1:46 p.m. A break and enter into a cottage was reported in Delaps Cove.
--November 16 at 2:32 p.m. Damage to a mailbox was reported in Clementsvale.
--November 16 at 4:03 p.m. Police were called to a Middleton business when an intoxicated patron caused a disturbance.
--November 16 at 5:07 p.m. A caller reported an assault in Lake Pleasant.
