All for a good cause

People of all ages came out to Bridgetown’s Walk A Mile in her shoes celebration on Saturday in recognition of International Women’s Day.

Janice Gattie, Bridgetown’s deputy mayor, organized the event to start at the legion in Bridgetown and end there with a potluck luncheon. Walk a Mile is an international event that is organized to raise awareness in their community about sexualized violence against women.

Bridgetown’s event collected donations for the local food bank and Chrysalis House, a Valley shelter for women and children.

The walkers (at least one brave man wore high heels) followed a route through downtown Bridgetown, accompanied by a Scottish piper. Scott Henderson and sons Graham and Campbell provided musical entertainment throughout lunch.
