An Annapolis County man has been handed a federal prison sentence for a recent armed robbery at a Kingston pharmacy.
Mark Howard White, 25, of Nictaux, was charged with stealing a bottle of Methadone from the Kingston Pharmasave while armed with an offensive weapon – in this case, a box cutter - and carrying a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
White was present in Kentville Provincial Court on Feb. 4. He elected provincial court judge and pled guilty to the charge of stealing the bottle of methadone while armed with a box cutter.
The charge of carrying a dangerous weapon was withdrawn.
Judge Alan Tufts sentenced White to two years federal custody and ordered him to provide a DNA sample.
The court granted a warrant for White’s arrest on January 21, following a police investigation into the January 20 robbery. Annapolis District RCMP arrested White without incident the morning of January 22 in Middleton.
White appeared in Kentville Provincial Court on the executed warrant later in the day and was remanded into custody until the February 4 court appearance.
