A Kings County woman is facing multiple charges connected to fraud following a routine traffic stop.
Courtney Clinton, 27, of Kings County, was stopped by police in Lequille on January 9, for motor vehicle violations. At that time, she gave police a false name. The officer checked the information and found that the identity given had been stolen along with other items.
Clinton was taken into custody and held for a court appearance. She was released with a later court date for charges ranging from obstruction of a police officer, possession of stolen goods, and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.
The Annapolis police received 94 calls between January 7 and January 13. Among these were: two false alarms; four false 911s; nine traffic accidents; 14 mental health issues and one domestic assault.
Following are a few of these calls:
-- January 7 at 6:26 a.m. Nictaux. A harassment complaint was reported.
-- January 7 at 6:28 a.m. Middleton. Police were called after a woman was heard causing a disturbance. The woman was found in breach of conditions, arrested, and held for a court appearance.
-- January 7 at 8:40 a.m. Lawrencetown. Police were called in regards to a personal matter between students. The school is following up.
-- January 7 at 12:02 a.m. Bridgetown. Police were called when a fight broke out.
-- January 7 at 12:21 p.m. Bridgetown. Police were called to a disturbance following a verbal altercation between parties.
-- January 7 at 1:54 p.m. Lawrencetown. A disturbing-the-peace complaint was lodged and one party was warned.
--Jan.7 at 2:41 p.m. Middleton. Parking tickets were issued.
-- January 7 at 2:55 p.m. Bridgetown. An issue was raised over a resident dumping snow where the town has to clear it.
-- January 7 at 6:17 p.m. Bridgetown. A suspicious vehicle was reported seen in the area. It turned out to be a maintenance worker.
-- January 8 at 7:02 a.m. Waldec. A quantity of firewood was reported stolen.
-- January 8 at 2:21 p.m. Lawrencetown. A noise complaint was reported.
-- January 8 at 7:02 p.m. Middleton. A disturbance was heard outside the Middleton detachment, after an argument broke out between people.
-- January 8 at 7:30 p.m. Middleton. A theft was reported at the high school. The matter is under investigation.
-- January 8 at 7:51 p.m. Port Lorne. Police are investigating he fraudulent sale of an ATV.
-- January 8 at 9:32 p.m. Middleton. A caller reported a possible prowler after seeing a suspicious light on at a neighbour’s property. It turned out to be the property owner getting firewood, wearing a headlamp.
-- January 9 at 9:08 a.m. Carlton Corner. A mailbox cover was found damaged.
-- January 9 at 11:14 a.m. Upper Granville. Police were called to mitigate a dispute over a property line.
-- January 9 at 11:06 p.m. Hillsburn. A possible prowler was reported seen in the area. A patrol was made, but didn’t find anyone.
-- January 10 at 12:10 p.m. Highway 101 near Annapolis Royal. A possible impaired driver was reported seen. Police located the driver and found that the individual was not impaired, but that poor driving conditions and habits probably contributed to the incident.
-- January 10 at 12:30 p.m. Meadowvale. Police were called to a landlord-tenant dispute.
-- January 10 at 6:03 p.m. Middleton. A male was reported for shoplifting a bottle of liquor at a business. Police are reviewing surveillance tapes.
-- January 10 at 7:11 p.m. South Williamston. A caller reported that a suspicious vehicle was parked in a driveway. Turns out the driver had pulled over to use a cellphone.
--Jan 11 at 9:10 a.m. Parking tickets were issued in Middleton.
-- January 11 at 11:06 a.m. Middleton. A suspicious male was seen in the area. Police are following up.
-- January 11 at 1:34 p.m. Highway 1 Deep Brook. An erratic driver was reported.
-- January 11 at 5:22 p.m. Middleton. Police received a report of an intoxicated male outside the liquor store. He was gone upon police arrival.
-- January 11 at 8:37 p.m. Lawrencetown. Police were called to a hit-and-run accident after a driver lost control, hit a power pole, and left the scene. The vehicle, a Volkswagon Jetta, was later identified as being stolen from Beaconsfield.
-- January 11 at 8:52 p.m. Meadowvale. Police were called to quiet a noisy party.
-- January 11 at 8:48 p.m. Lequille. A male was arrested for breaching conditions. He was taken to cells in Digby and released for court.
-- January 11 at 9:37 p.m. Nictuax. A caller reported that snowmobiles were trespassing on private property.
-- January 12 at 12:11 a.m. Bridgetown. Teenagers were reported to be making a disturbance. A patrol was made but the group had departed.
-- January 12 at 12:41 p.m. Middleton. A possible impaired driver was reported. Police spoke with the driver.
-- January 12 at 10:32 p.m. Nictaux. Police were called after someone was heard screaming and crying. A patrol was made but could not locate the source.
-- January 13 at 3:09 a.m. South Williamston. An officer on patrol noticed an intoxicated male walking down the road. The individual was arrested for breach of conditions and taken to cells in Kingston.
-- January 13 at 4:05 a.m. Lawrencetown. A vehicle failed to comply at a police check-stop. The vehicle and driver were located. The driver is under investigation for being impaired and a court date has been set.
-- January 13 at 12:05 p.m. Lawrencetown. A person flagged down a police car and turned in a found purse.
-- January 13 at 3:55 p.m. Cornwallis. A person was seen walking down the road with a suspicious object in hand.
-- Jan. 13 at 7:41 p.m. Lawrencetown. An attempted fraud via Facebook was reported. An individual (based in New York) pretending to be a friend stranded in Europe and in trouble, was asking for money. This is a scam.
-- January 13 at 11:04 p.m. Centerlea. Police were called after threats were made via Facebook.
