An 18-year-old Lawrencetown man has been charged with several offences in relation to a stolen vehicle he was operating.
At about 3 p.m. today a 2009 Mazda was reported stolen to the Middleton RCMP in Annapolis County. A short time later RCMP were alerted to a possible sighting of the vehicle on Highway 101 near Bridgetown. The police located the vehicle near the Exit 19 turnoff and attempted to pull the vehicle over at which time the driver attempted to flee. The driver of the vehicle exited the highway via an off-ramp and lost control, colliding with the guard rail.
The driver was taken into police custody without incident and was not injured in the collision. He will remain in custody over the weekend pending a bail hearing. He will be facing charges of Theft of a Vehicle, Dangerous Driving, and Failing to Stop for the police.
