The emergency department at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton will be closed from 6 p.m. on June 3 to 8 a.m. on June 4, Annapolis Valley Health said, citing a doctor shortage.

AVH said for non-emergency health information, local residents can contact 811 and speak with a registered nurse. In the event of an emergency people can call 911.

AVH also said the emergency departments at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville, and Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal are available for emergency care.

Annapolis Valley Health said it apologizes for any inconvenience the Middleton closure may cause.
