The Heart of the Valley will be bopping for good causes on the Father’s Day weekend.

The Middleton Show and Shine in support of the new fire hall and community centre; the Walk the Walk for Autism to support those with autism; and the Serenade in Park in support of the Solders’ Memorial Hospital are all set for June 16.

The Middleton Show and Shine on Father’s Day weekend is a go again this year.

Sherri (Winnie) Woods, of Up-To-Date-Car-Show-Listings, said a few new sponsors have come on board for this year’s event.

“We have Atlantic Nationals, Canadian Tire, and Mothers Polishes Waxes Cleaners,” she said. “We’re networking with the bigwigs now.”

The show, now in its fourth year, is set to take place along Commercial Street in Middleton on June 16, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the first 100 cars to register will receive a dash plaque and goodie bag.

There are a number of categories and prizes available to entrants. The Mayor’s Choice is a special prize category to be presented by Mayor Calvin Eddy. Other categories include People’s Choice, Best Import, Best Truck, and Best Paint.

Volunteers from the Middleton Lions Club and the Middleton Fire Department will be helping throughout the day. All proceeds will go to the new fire hall and community centre.

Walk the Walk for Autism is also happening that morning, while the Serenade in the Park will wrap-up the day’s fundraisers.

Registration for the Walk the Walk for Autism takes place at 9 a.m. in Rotary Park in Middleton. Opening ceremonies take place at 10:30 a.m. while the walk is set for 11 a.m. All the proceeds from this event support individuals and families living in the Annapolis Valley.

The Serenade in the Park, a fundraiser in support of Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, features live music of the 1930s by the 17-piece Annapolis Big Band at Centennial Park from 6:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

This concert is free, but goodwill offerings will be collected in support of the hospital emergency room. In case of poor weather, this concert will be held nearby in the Middleton Regional High School gym.
