The emergency department at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton will be closed due to a doctor shortage Friday, May 25 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Annapolis Valley Health said today.

AVH said that anyone with a non-emergency issue can call 811 to speak with a registered nurse. For emergencies they should call 911.

Also, the emergency departments at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville  and at the Annapolis Community Health Centre in Annapolis Royal are available for emergency care.

AVH said it apologizes for any inconvenience the SMH emergency department closure may cause.
