Gunn earns Lord Strathcona Medal; Ilnitski presented QEII Diamond Jubilee Medal

Friends, family, and dignitaries were on hand Thursday evening as Lieutenant-Commander Marie Bourinot reviewed the 26 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps in Cornwallis. The 69th annual ceremonial review also included promotions for some cadets and awards were handed out to deserving youngsters, including the prestegious Lord Strathcona Medal presented to Chief Petty Officer First Class D. Gunn of Annapolis Royal. CPO1 Gunn also received a trophy as best overall cadet. He will attend Royal Military College in Kingston, ON.

Ken Ilnitski, 1st vice-president of the Mainland Division of the Nova Scotia Navy League of Canada, was presented with the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal and a citation signed by Governor General David Johnston.
