Annapolis County council is inviting the public to attend a presentation on the 2012/13 operating and capital budgets, as well as an update on the Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP). Department Managers will be on hand to talk one-on-one with residents after the budget presentation.
“It is never an easy task to determine a budget each year,” said Annapolis County Warden Reg Ritchie. “This year in particular has been especially challenging with the various issues Municipal Council has had to consider such as provincial cutbacks. It was important that we maintained the current tax rate while upholding the quality services we offer to our residents. At the end of the day, we wanted to present a budget that was going to work in the best interest of our County.”
The meetings are being held on Wednesday, June 6 at the Clementsport Legion (RCL Branch 122), Clementsport at 7 p.m.; and on Thursday, June 7 at the Wilmot Christian Fellowship Centre, Wilmot, at 7 p.m.
Municipal staff will be joining Council to talk about individual departmental highlights. There will be tables set up around the room where each department manager will be available to talk to those in attendance.
“The goal is to give our residents the opportunity to learn about the budget in a way that is easy to understand and provide them with an update regarding the ICSP,” said Ritchie. “It was felt that the public should have an opportunity to hear why we (Council) make the decisions we do and learn about the role everyone plays in the process.”
Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings:
. Wednesday, June 6 at the Clementsport Legion, Clementsport at 7 p.m.
. Thursday, June 7 at the Wilmot Christian Fellowship Centre, Wilmot, at 7 p.m.
