Two people are facing four charges each of trafficking narcotics following a search at a Middleton residence.
Police will not release the names of the man, aged 36, and the woman, aged 20, until the charges have been filed with the courts, said RCMP Corp. Laurie Smith. Police executed the search warrant at the residence and seized drugs, cell phones, money and scales.
Police say the pair could have been selling prescription drugs such as Oxycontin, Dilaudid; as well as marijuana and methamphetamine. According to Corp. Smith, these two arrests may be just the beginning.
“Several calls came in to the cell phones while police were gathering evidence,” he said. “It should make for interesting follow-up.”
Corp. Smith added that police are encouraging people to be alert and report suspicious activity to the police, or to Crimestoppers.
“People in the Annapolis Valley are seemingly more aware of the dangers of these types of drugs,” he said. “We encourage people to contact police with any information and help us t get these dangerous drugs off the streets.”
