The Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum in Middleton is closing its doors for the winter. The Annapolis Valley Historical Society, which has operated the museum for almost 30 years, voted to interrupt operations over the next few months in an effort to reduce operating expenses during these tough economic times.
President Belle Grant Fairn said that it was a very difficult decision made with much regret by the society’s board of directors; however, it was a necessary one to sustain the museum in future years. In making this decision, the society has followed the lead of several other museums in the Valley and the province.
The Museum will close on Friday, Dec. 16 and re-open on Monday, April 2. The society wants to assure members and the community that the museum will be well looked after by volunteers and staff during the closure.
