From tips by the public about pot plants, to fires, break-ins, and accidents, the Annapolis RCMP had a busy week from August 30 to September 6. During that period, they received 111 calls for assistance including 11 false 911 calls, six false alarms, 17 traffic matters, and two domestic issues.
Following are highlights:
-- August 30, 10:56 a.m. Middleton. Police received a report of two individuals arguing in a moving vehicle. Police located the vehicle but were unable to substantiate that any criminal activity had taken place.
-- August 30, 11:36 a.m. Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a possible stolen vehicle. An investigation revealed that no theft had taken place. The matter was deemed civil.
-- August 30, 5:25 p.m. Highway 1 Bridgetown. Police received a complaint of a possible dangerous driver. Police located the vehicle to discover that the driver's vision had been obscured by the setting sun.
-- August 30, 11:06 p.m. Middleton. Police received a report of an intoxicated person. A man was arrested and charged for public intoxication. He was taken to cells, and released the next day.
-- August 31, 2:20 a.m. Carlton Corner. Police received a suspicious vehicle complaint. Police patrolled to discover family members were trying to play a birthday prank on a sibling.
-- August 31, 7:47 a.m. Middleton. Police received a report of property damage. A liner for the town's sewer lagoon was damaged over night. Workers discovered part of the rubber liner was burned.
-- August 31, 9:33 a.m. Meadowvale. A tip to police resulted in the seizure of a number of marijuana plants. The plants were later destroyed.
-- August 31, 2:32 p.m. Highway 1 Alains Creek. Police received a report of a single-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. The driver lost control and went into the ditch receiving minor injuries.
-- September 1, 2 a.m. Deep Brook. Police received a call about a suspicious person. Police patrolled and a person was found pushing a broken down vehicle down the highway. Police had the vehicle towed and assisted the individual.
-- September 1, 11:48 a.m. Granville Ferry. A vehicle owner reported that a license plate had been stolen off a parked vehicle.
-- September 1, 2:44 p.m. Lawrencetown. Police received a report of a male driving a pocket-rocket motorbike up and down the road. Patrols failed to locate the vehicle.
-- September 1, 9:31 p.m. Parkers Cove. A tip to police resulted in the seizure of marijuana plants. The plants were later destroyed.
-- September 2, 1:53 a.m. Granville Ferry. Police received a report of a break and enter into a local business. Cigarattes were stolen. The investigation continues.
-- September 2, 10 a.m. Middleton. Police received a report of the theft of a bright green wooden bench from a cemetery.
-- September 2, 4:31 p.m. Middleton. A vehicle owner reported the theft of his CD deck from his vehicle while he was at work.
-- September 2, 10:47 p.m. Wilmot. Anapolis RCMP assisted Kingston, Middleton, and Nictaux firefighters in dealing with a house fire. The owner woke up to find the house full of smoke. He escaped unharmed and ran to a neighbour's to call 911. The fire is not suspicious in nature. The house sustained major damage and the owner is being assisted by the Red Cross.
-- September 3, 11:52 a.m. Bridgetown. Three firearms were turned into police by their owner. The owner ask that they be destroyed.
-- September 3, 1:42 p.m. Mount Hanley. Police received a complaint of possible court order violations. Police attended and one man was arrested for violating court conditions. He was released pending a court appearance.
-- September 4, 5:45 p.m. Margaretsville. Police, Nova Scotia Power, and the Margaretsville fire department responded to a tree down over powerlines and on fire. The tree was removed and the wires were repaired.
-- September 5, 3:07 p.m. Parkers Cove. Police received a report of a green ATV driving up and down the road. Police patrolled but the suspect was not found.
-- September 6, 10:06 a.m. Bear River. Police received a report of the theft of a canoe overnight. The canoe is desribed as red and made by Cumberland.
-- September 6, 1:02 p.m. Spa Springs. Police received a report of a chestnut coloured horse loose in the complainent's yard, last seen running up the highway. The horse was retreived and was last reported being lead home on a rope.
-- September 6, 4:47 p.m. Carlton Corner. Police received a report of a female found lying on the ground. Police and EHS attended but she did not require any medical assistance. She was in the area checking out the cows in the field.
