Annapolis RCMP had a fairly interesting Halloween, with calls ranging from egg throwing incidents to a load of carrots spilling on the highway; to an adult dressed as Santa Claus reported for uttering profanities to seniors; to a razor blade found in a child’s apple.

At 4:22 p.m. on October 31, police were called to Highway 101 near exit 19 after a load of carrots spilled. At 7:30 p.m., police were called to Cornwallis after a conflict with a group of adult trick-or-treaters. At 9:21 p.m., a Spa Springs woman reported that her child was given an apple with a razor blade.

Police report this latter matter is under investigation, and while they are using all the resources available, there’s no need for alarm.

The Annapolis RCMP responded to 110 calls for assistance during the week of October 26 through November 2. Among these were seven motor vehicle accidents; five domestic matters; eight false 911s; and two false alarms. Following are highlights of these calls: (Note: Due to the sensitive nature of cases concerning sexual assault, children’s welfare and mental health issues, not all calls are considered appropriate for publication) -October 26 at 11:03 a.m. Police were called to a break and enter into a vacant residence in Wilmot. Two males were caught in the act and held until police arrived. Two males were later released with charges pending. The matter remains under investigation. -October 26 at 12:32 p.m. A Middleton business reported a shoplifter. Employees followed the suspect who returned the items. -October 26 at 12:55 p.m. Police were called to a break and enter to a residence in Granville Ferry. Food was taken. -October 26 at 2:49 p.m. Police were called to a traffic collision in Middleton. No injuries were reported. -October 26 at 2:35 p.m. Police were called to a break and enter in Middleton. The matter turned out to be unfounded. -October 26 at 4:15 p.m. Police were called to a motor vehicle accident in Bridgetown after one vehicle sideswiped another at a stop sign. No injuries were reported, but moderate damage was sustained to vehicles. -October 26 at 4:21 p.m. Police were called to an assault in Middleton. A male and female were arrested and lodged in cells until a court appearance the following day. Both are facing charges of assault. -October 26 at 6:21 p.m. Police were called to a break and enter into a seasonal home in Port Lorne. Damage was extensive. -October 26 at 9:21 p.m. A credit card fraud was reported in Middleton. -October 27 at 11:21 a.m. A complaint of theft under $5,000 was reported in Middleton after a table saw was stolen from a front yard. -October 27 at 2:49 p.m. A complaint of theft under $5,000 was reported in Nictaux Falls after someone stole a 150-pound cement owl from a yard. -October 27 at 3:08 p.m. Police received a report of a trespasser in Middleton. -October 27 at 3:16 p.m. A complaint of theft under $5,000 was reported in Nictaux. The suspect is known to the complainant. -October 27 at 4:58 p.m. Police received a complaint that youth were operating dirt bikes on the road in Clementsvale. A patrol was made and RCMP spoke with area youth. -October 28 at 7:53 a.m. Police were called to a motor vehicle accident on the 101 Highway near Bridgetown after a motorist hit a deer. -October 28 at 10:30 a.m. An attempted break and enter into a pump house was reported in Phinney’s Cove. -October 28 at 1:19 p.m. A credit card company notified police of a forgery, and misuse of a credit card after noticing irregular account activity. The credit card had been stolen from a vehicle in Middleton and used in Kingston, Greenwood, and Middleton. Two Annapolis County women face a variety of charges after police recovered a quantity of stolen property at a residence. The matter remains under investigation. -October 28 at 9:28 p.m. An intoxicated male was arrested in South Farmington and held in cells over night. -October 28 at 4 p.m. A Middleton business reported a shoplifter. -October 29 at 10:31 a.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle accident on Shore Road between a small car and a dump truck. The car sustained extensive damage, but no injuries were reported. -October 29 at 3:25 p.m. A break and enter was reported into a seasonal residence in Port George. -October 30 at 12:47 p.m. A Middleton caller reported damage to trails. -October 30 at 2:40 p.m. A cheque was reported stolen from Arlington and later cashed. -October 30 at 3:07 p.m. A break and enter was reported into a trailer in Port George. -October 30 at 8:16 p.m. An impaired driver was reported in Tupperville. -October 30 at 10:55 p.m. Police were called in response to an assault with a weapon in Bridgetown. A youth is facing various charges. -October 31 at 8:58 a.m. Police were called to a break and enter into a Middleton warehouse. Pop was stolen. -October 31 at 2:17 a.m. Police were called to a disturbance in Middleton after a male and female were fighting. Both people are facing charges. -October 31 at 3:35 p.m. A shoplifter was arrested in Middleton and is scheduled to appear in court in January. -October 31 at 6:14 p.m. Police were called to a break and enter into a Springfield residence. -November 1 at 12:22 a.m. Police were called to a disturbance after a party grew out of control in Round Hill. -November 1 at 3:08 p.m. Police received a report that a cow was standing at the side of Highway 101 near exit 18. -November 1 at 5:51 p.m. A Middleton caller reported seeing a youth entering and damaging vehicles.
