The Macdonald Museum in Middleton is offering new temporary exhibits including "Valley of the Dolls" and "Horsing Around."  The museum is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. until September 30.

Museum Hours

Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 to 4:30 p.m. until September 30. Permanent exhibits include the Nova Scotia Museum's antique clock and watch collection, a Rusty Nail exhibit, a recreated classroom and general store,  a natural history exhibit, and a genealogy library (call for library hours). Temporary exhibits now showing are: "Valley of the Dolls" and "Horsing Around" featuring all things equestrian. Admission charged. Please call ahead to confirm hours as museum relies on volunteers in September. Phone 825-6116 for more information.

 

Toastmasters

One-on-one computer tutorials at Bridgetown and Lawrencetown Libraries. Do you have a computer question you would like some assistance with, a new program you would like to learn? Yoga Fundraiser

August Yoga by the Sea classes every Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Port George Community Center. Classes are $10 each (drop in) or $8 if paid in advance. All proceeds to the Diabetes Association. For more information, contact Jennifer Parks-Smith at 242-5013.

C@P site

Bridgetown C@P Site at 26 Bay Rd., Bridgetown, provides access to computers, the internet and printing. Hours are Mondays to Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

Childbirth & Depression

October 1 to December 17 The No. 1 complication of childbirth is depression.  Family Matters is partnering with Annapolis Valley Health to offer a 10-week facilitated session for women who are experiencing or are at risk of post partum depression.  Sessions are held at Family Matters every Monday morning from October 1 to December 17. Horsing Around Exhibit

Until October 31 "Horsing Around" exhibit at Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum, 21 School Street, Middleton. Exhibit features equestrian art as well as information, photos, and artifacts on horses in the Valley. Phone 825-6116 for more information. Exhibit continues until October 31. Admission charged.

 

Family Heirlooms

Until September 15 Annette Cerchie from Granville Ferry is displaying 30 pieces of rug hooking at ARCAC St. George St., Annapolis Royal. Her personal works include 13 Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass windows and 17 framed hooked pieces on burlap. Reception will be held August 26from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

First Friday

Inglisville Fun Day

September 8 Inglisville Fun Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Inglisville Community Hall. Flea market, barbecue, silent auction, cake walk, and little children's games. Jam session starting at 7 p.m.

 

All Saints Breakfast

September 8 All Saint’s Anglican Church will be serving breakfast, Saturday, Sept. 8 from 8 to 10 a.m. at All Saints’ Anglican Church Hall, Pleasant Street, Kingston. Cost: $ 7. Menu: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, hash browns, toast, juice, tea & coffee. All are welcome.

 

Queen Anne’s Tea

September 8 Enjoy a Royal Tea with Queen Anne with period food and music and on fine Limoges and Arcadia china. Church Supper

September 8 Paradise United Baptist Church invites you to their bean, ham, and potato supper with gingerbread for dessert at the Paradise Hall, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on September 8. Adults: $10; children 12 & under: $7; under 5 years: $4.

 

Tea At Two

September 9 Tea at Two on Sunday, Sept. 9 at North Hills Museum, 5065 Granville Road, Granville Ferry. Enjoy tea, coffee, lemonade and delicious home baked sweets while listening to live music. Chat with friend, and visit the museum as well. This is a free event. For more info call 532-2168.

 

Hymnsing

September 9 There will be a Hymn Sing on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilmot Christian Fellowship Centre, corner of Hwy # 1 and Dodge Road.  Special guests are Graham Moorehead, Matt Balsor and Friends.  Fellowship time to follow. All welcome.

 

Computer Course

September 11 Introduction to Computers and the Internet at Bridgetown C@P site will cover basic functions and uses, how to safely browse the internet, set up an email account, shop safely online, and how to use Facebook. Ticket Auction

September 13 Ticket Auction at the Nictaux Fire Hall, door open at noon, draws start at 7 p.m. Also 50/50 draw, tickets on quilt and rack, and also on a basket of groceries. Proceeds to the Nictaux Hospital Auxiliary.  

 

Music Night, Auction

September 13 On Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. the Forester's Hall in Clementsvale will be holding a music night and auction in support of the Annapolis Community Health Centre.  Please help us support this worthwhile cause.

 

Legion Meeting

September 13 There will be an executive meeting of Port Royal Legion Br. 21 starting at 7 p.m.    

 

Coffee Party

September 14 Kingston and District Health Auxiliary will hold a Coffee Party from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Kingston Fire Hall. Proceeds for Annapolis Valley Health. Please come out and help support your local hospital.

Ciderfest Silent Auction

September 14 to 16  Bridgetown and Area Friends of the Library celebrates Bridgetown Ciderfest Days with its annual silent auction of quality crafts and services in the former Bee and B Fitness Centre building, 29 Queen Street on Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Raffle tickets ($1) also available for Ann Watson afghan: draw time is Sunday at 4 p.m. at close of auction. Proceeds benefit the Program Room of the Bridgetown and Area Library.

 

Annapolis Royal Walk

Ciderfest 5K-Run

September 15 This year’s Ciderfest 5K – run jog or walk is a fundraiser for the Bridgetown Library. Cost is $10. Register by sending cheque made out to library to Victor Vidito, Box 5, Bridgetown, NS B0S 1C0 or on race day, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., at Bridgetown Dev. Center on Bay Rd. Rain or shine, the race starts at 8:30 a.m. 

 

HART Fundraiser

September 15 Annual Golf Tournament for HART at 9:30 a.m. at Berwick Heights. Cost is $80 per person or $300 per team of four which  includes a stuffed chicken breast meal. If you don't golf you can still attend the meal and Silent Auction for $20. Pre-registration is required, call Laurie at 341-HART or Anthony at 840-3397. All proceeds go to HART's vet bill.

 

Afternoon of Music

September 16 An Afternoon of Music featuring ‘Katz Pyjamas’ will be held Sunday, Sept. 16 at Springfield United Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. A social time will follow.

Funds For Fuel 

September 17 Funds for Fuel bridge party at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17 at Annapolis Valley Macdonald Museum, 21 School Street, Middleton. Cost is $4 per person. Light lunch served. All welcome. Come out for a fun afternoon and support the community museum. Call 825-6116 for details.

 

Volkssport Event
