Computer Help

Computer help is available on Fridays at the Bridgetown and Area Library. Contact the library for details, 665-2758. Computer help is also available at the Dr. Frank W. Morse Memorial Library in Lawrencetown on Thursdays. Ask library staff, 584-3044, or check online at www.valleylibrary.ca

 

Lego Club

Fridays Lego Club is held on Fridays at the Dr. Frank W. Morse Memorial Library in Lawrencetown.  For Ages 6 to 11 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. We provide the Legos. Please don't bring your own. Stop by after school on Fridays and build something cool.

 

Nominations

Until April 30 Sports Wall of Fame nomination forms are available until April 30 at Middleton Town Hall of the Macdonald Museum for the 2012 Induction on Sept. 29. Get your favourite athlete, builder or team nominated now.

Post Partum Depression

Until May 30 The No. 1 complication of childbirth is depression. Family Matters is partnering with Annapolis Valley Health to offer a 10-week facilitated session for women who are experiencing or are at risk of post partum depression. Sessions are held at Family Matters every Wednesday morning from March 28 to May 30.  To register, please call Angela Fredericks at 825-4825.

Tango Workshop

Register Now for an Argentinian Tango workshop at the Macdonald Museum on Saturday, April 21 at 2 p.m. Instuctors Andrea and Udo Fagin. Sacred, Secular & Silly VIII

April 13 The Annapolis Valley Centre of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) presents its eighth annual concert of performances by Annapolis Valley singers and instrumentalists to suit every musical taste in Bridgetown Baptist Church at 7:30 p.m. A freewill offering will be taken for its Organ Scholarship Fund for aspiring organists. Music, Auction

April 13 Music and Auction Evening at the Forester's Hall, Clementsvale on April 13 at 7 p.m. Music will be supplied by Gordon & Terry Silver from New Minus. There will be an auction of baked goods or new items following the music. The money raised is for hall upkeep.

 

Cancellation

April 14 Country Gospel Night at Paradise Community Hall is cancelled. The next performance will be May 19.

Fiddle Fest 2012

April 14 Fiddle Fest 2012 presented by Bridgetown Band Parent Association at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30) in the gymnasium. Cost is $7 per person; under 10 years free. Babysitters Course

April 15 There will be a Canadian Red Cross Babysitters Course on Sunday, April 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Middleton Fire Hall. Whether your teen stays home alone or plans to babysit, this course is for them. Learn first aid and safety in the home. Open to males and females ages 11+.  Cost is $35. Hymn Sing

Funds For Fuel

Public Speaking

April 17 The Annual Rosemary Chapter IODE Public Speaking Contest for Grades 6, 7, and 8 will be held at the library of Middleton Regional High School on Tuesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

April 17 Habitation New Horizon’s Club’s annual general meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. at the Hall.

Spaghetti Dinner

April 20 A Spaghetti Dinner will be held at St Luke's Parish Hall Annapolis Royal on April 20. There will be two sittings at 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m .Tickets are $10 or $5 for children under 12 years. Menu will be salad, spaghetti with meat or vegetarian sauce, bread and flavoured butters, and our now famous Ice Cream Sundae Dessert Buffet with home made brownies and sauces. April 20 Coffee Party held by Kingston and District Health Auxiliary from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at  Kingston Fire Hall. All proceeds for Palliative Care.

 

Newcomer Meeting

April 21 Meeting hosted by Rural Newcomer Navigator Community Development program to discuss the needs of newcomers, community projects, and community events. Refreshments served. Two sessions available: Bridgetown: 10 to 11 a.m. at End of the Line Pub; Annapolis Royal: 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. at St. Luke’s Church Hall.

 

Woodlawn Cleanup

April 21 Woodlawn Cemetery will be holding its Volunteer Clean Up Day on Saturday, April 21, starting at 9 a.m.  Lot owners are encouraged to participate.

 

Milford Maplefest

April 21 The annual Milford Maplefest will be held Saturday, April 21 at the Milford and Area Community Hall, 21 kilometres south of Annapolis Royal. Sittings at 12 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Local pure maple syrup, roasted old-fashioned ham, homemade baked beans, potato salad, homemade rolls, pickles, assorted homemade pies, tea, coffee, or juice. Proceeds for the Milford Community Hall, Milford Historic Centre, and Milford Baptist Church.

 

SMH Dinner

April 21 The return of the popular Stuffed Roast Pork Loin Dinner prepared by chefs from CFB Greenwood will be held at the Middleton Fire Hall on Saturday, April 21 and is hosted by Soldiers' Memorial Health Auxiliary. Two settings: 4:30 to 6 p.m. and 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. with tickets available from Elizabeth Spinney 825-6841 or Ruth Brigley 825-3663. All proceeds to purchase hospital equipment.

 

Ticket Auction

April 21 The Middleton & District Lions Club will be holding a Ticket Auction on Saturday, April 21 at the Lions Hall on Highway 10, Nictaux. The doors open at 10 a.m. and the draw starts at 2 p.m. sharp.  20 tickets for $1, a 50/50 draw, kitchen and canteen will be open.

 

Lions Fundraiser

April 22 Fundraiser held by the Middleton Lions with proceeds to the Middleton Community Center & Fire Hall. Enjoy a creamed lobster supper (alternate is prime rib) at the Lion’s Hall in Nictaux, 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sold only, this includes any take home orders. Tickets ($20) are available at Blue Griffin Bookstore or from a Middleton Lions member. Wheelchair accessible facility.   

 

Turkey Dinner

April 23 Turkey Dinner in support of West Kings High School’s Safe Grad, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Kingston Lion’s Hall. Cost is $10. Take-out available.

Special Meeting

April 25 A special meeting of the Kingston District Fire Commission will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 7 p.m. at the Kingston District Fire Hall to approve the proposed borrowing for a new fire truck, not to exceed $400,000. Please note that this meeting is not to increase the area fire tax rate.

 

Wadeville AGM

April 25 Annual General Meeting of the Wadeville Cemetery starts at 7 p.m. in Granville Centre Hall. Lot owners urged to attend.

 

CAPS AGM

April 25 AGM of Companion Animal Protection Society of Annapolis Co. follows the 7 p.m. monthly Board meeting at Municipal Building, Lawrencetown.
