Lawrencetown celebrates the holiday season

Scores of Lawrencetown area residents, from toddlers to the older folks, turned out to greet Santa at the fire hall Saturday evening as the community celebrated Christmas in the Village.

Santa arrived via a fire truck driven by fire chief Mike Stoddart. The Jolly Old Elf handed out treats to kids and then helped Stoddart light the giant Christmas tree. Inside the hall there was free chili and hotdogs dished out by village commissioners, and hot chocolate for the taking.

There were a ton of games for the kids, involving balls and a giant multi-coloured parachute. While some remained inside, others opted for horse and wagon rides operated by George Noble. The rides went down the trail behind the fire hall, down Prince Street and back up to the fire hall.

There was also a bon fire behind the hall plus an LED light exchange inside.

Initially the event was planned for the Lawrencetown Youth Arena, but warm weather prevented the ice from being ready in time.
