Brian McConnell was re-elected chair of the Basin Wellness Society at the group’s annual general meeting January 25. The society operates the Lifeplex Wellness Centre at Cornwallis Park where the AGM was held.
McConnell thanked the staff and volunteers for their tremendous efforts during an extremely challenging year but one in which aquatic and land programs had been expanded and expenses significantly reduced.
Other directors elected included Michael Donnelly, vice-chair Elizabeth McMichael,
secretary Louise Cotheau, Judi Wilson, and Bruce Forcey. ln addition to the elected directors, the board includes: Patrick McWade (representative of the Municipality of the County of Annapolis), Jan VanZoost (representative of the Annapolis West Health Foundation), and Beth Earle (representative of the Annapolis Basin Conference Centre). A position for the representative of the Digby and Area Health Service Charitable Foundation has been occupied by Richard Levy.
McConnell said Warden Peter Newton and CAO Brenda Orchard of the Municipality of the County of Annapolis attended the January 2l meeting of the board and explained the position of the municipality with respect to negotiations concerning the possible coming of the YMCA to Lifeplex.
Members of the society unanimously passed a motion at the annual meeting thanking McConnell and the other members of the board for their hard work and achievements over the past year.
