Crime Report: June 1 to 8

Annapolis RCMP responded to a total of 110 calls in the Annapolis County region during the June 1 to 8 period. Among these were five false alarms, ten false 911 calls, one domestic incident, and five traffic collisions. (Note: Due to the sensitive nature of complaints involving sexual assault, domestic violence, children’s welfare, and mental health, not all calls are considered appropriate for publication.)

The following is a summary of the 110 calls: - Jun 1 at 1:00 p.m. Highway 101, Bridgetown. Police responded to a complaint of a driver talking on cell phone failing to yield to an ambulance with lights and sirens activated. Police located the driver in question who acknowledged talking on cell. Possible charges are pending. - June 1 at 3:08 p.m. Middleton. Following up on a 911 hang-up call, a significant medical emergency was discovered resulting in EHS transporting a male to hospital. - June 1 at 4:29 p.m. Parker Mountain Rd. A case of threats uttered involving parties known to each other was reported to police for information purposes., Both parties had contact with police, documented. - June 1 at 6:23 p.m. Nictaux. A caller contacted police to request a protection of property notice be served after another subject threatened to damage the caller’s property. - June 2 at 10:20 a.m. Location undisclosed. A report of theft of copper wire and damage to a commercial property remains under investigation. - June 2 at 11:49 a.m. Wilmot. Police responded to a complaint of a fraudulent cheque submitted in exchange for merchandise at a charitable fundraiser. - June 2 at 2:02 p.m. Bridgetown. A complaint of assault by one male youth on another remains under investigation - June 2 at 2:10 p.m. Middleton. A report of two male youths trying to pry open a window at the old courthouse on South St. led to immediate patrols, but the parties left the scene prior to police arrival. The matter remains under investigation. - June 2 at 4:05 p.m. Melvern Square. Police investigated a complaint of a lawnmower stolen from a yard. - June 2 at 8:29 p.m. Granville Centre. A reported theft by conversion remains under investigation. The caller reported loaning a vehicle, which the borrower had smashed up and sold. - June 2 at 9:28 p.m. Officers investigated a complaint of break and enter into a dwelling, accompanied by the removal of the belongings of an individual who had been staying at the residence. It appeared that only the belongings of this individual were missing. - June 2 at 10:58 p.m. Nictaux. A single collided with a deer, causing no reported injuries. - June 3 at 8:45 a.m. Middleton. A two-vehicle accident occurred between a vehicle pulling out of a public access way and a passing vehicle. - June 3 at 1:15 p.m. Middleton. An officer attended the Special Olympics Walk held at Annapolis East Elementary. - June 3 at 2:45 p.m. Wilmot. Police responded to assist in finding alternate arrangements for the female found to be unlawfully occupying a vacant trailer. - June 3 at 5:16 p.m. Bear River. A fifteen-year-old male was arrested for mischief, assault and uttering threats after allegedly assaulting two individuals and threatening to damage property with an axe. The subject was released to family custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to face charges of mischief, and two counts of assault. - June 3 at 5:58 p.m. Carleton Corner. A juvenile was arrested and faces charges of common assault. - June 3 at 6:21 p.m. Middleton. An anonymous caller reported witnessing an erratic driver nearly strike a pedestrian and vehicle. Police located the driver, but cannot proceed with charges based on an anonymous complaint. - June 3 at 6:38 p.m. Port Lorne. An individual driving a scooter around a private yard accelerated, crossed the road, ending in the opposite ditch. No injuries reported. - June 3 at 6:38 p.m. Cornwallis. A driving-related neighbour dispute was resolved through police contact with the parties involved. - June 3 at 11:10 p.m. Forest Glade. A resident contacted police to report individuals coming onto his/her property and shining flashlights into the bedroom. - June 4 at 12:02 a.m. Middleton. Police patrols investigating a report of an impaired driver located a 37-year-old male attempting to operate a motorcycle. The subject was arrested, failed a breathalyser test, had his license suspended, held in custody and later released to appear in court at a later date to face charges of impaired driving. - June 4 at 10:18 a.m. Middleton. Members responded to a report of windows broken at a town property. - June 4 at 12:13 p.m. Wilmot. A report of break, enter, and theft of an amount of cash is still under investigation. - June 4 at 8:31 p.m. Middleton. A passerby reported overhearing yelling from a residence between an male and female involved in a verbal altercation. Police attended and were told no assault had occurred. Both parties refused to leave the premises. - June 4 at 8:44 p.m. Middleton. A child reported missing was found: After being dropped off at the wrong park, the child’s soccer coach took the child to the right park. After the game the coach returned the child to the original wrong park, at which point the missing child was found. - June 5 at 7:00 p.m. Middleton. RCMP members attended the Relay for Life event to conduct traffic control and participate in the opening ceremonies by leading the Survivors Lap around the track to open the walk. - June 4 at 9:39 p.m. Springfield. A caller reported that a female had walked into his/her house, began preparing herself a meal and refused to leave. Police responded to assist the individual in accessing appropriate services. - June 4 at 11:29 p.m. Brickton. A resident reported a prowler lurking about his/her property, banging on doors. RCMP patrolled the area for approximately one hour without observing any suspicious activity or individuals. - June 5 at 11:04 a.m. Mount Rose. A report of possible theft of mail remains under investigation. - June 5 at 11:43 a.m. Middleton. Two vehicles collided causing minor damage but no reported injuries. - June 5 at 3:19 p.m. Middleton. A passerby reported hearing a male and female arguing in an apartment. Police attended but no assault was disclosed. Neither party was willing to leave the premises. - June 5 at 5:05 p.m. Wilmot. A small silver vehicle with children hanging from window was reported, but investigation of the plate number provided did not lead to a vehicle matching the description. - June 5 at 4:55 p.m. Brickton. Patrols located the driver of a vehicle reported for passing erratically. The driver denied the accusation, and the complainant was unwilling to pursue the matter further. - June 5 at 7:01 p.m. Wilmot. Police and fire responded to a report of a road hazard involving a bonfire on a dirt road. Upon arrival, the fire was found to be located in front yard of a private property, and the owner possessed the proper burning permit. - June 6 at 1:49 a.m. Meadowvale. Police responded to two separate calls complaining of a noisy party involving screaming and loud music. Upon arrival, the party-goers cooperated with RCMP requests and the matter was resolved. - June 6 at 2:15 a.m. Cornwallis. Police patrolled to the scene of a loud party and spoke with a property representative, and the matter was resolved. - June 6 at 4:00 a.m. Nictaux. As a patrolling officer rounded a corner, two males sped away. Suspects exited vehicle after parking in a driveway, then when the officer approached their location they fled on foot. Police dog services were contacted, but both suspects were apprehended before the dog arrived. The vehicle was towed and the driver was ticketed for driving after dark and flight from police. - June 6 at 9:02 a.m. Middleton. Four-seater golf carts were reported missing after the Relay for Life event. The suspect(s) appear(s) to have made a getaway along the former railroad tracks. The matter remains under investigation. - June 6 at 5:25 p.m. Paradise. A two-vehicle accident caused no reported injuries - June 6 at 5:52 p.m. Cornwallis Park. Patrols tracked down a suspected impaired driver, who was subsequently arrested, failed a breathalyser test and charged with impaired driving. - June 6 at 11:23 p.m. Bridgetown. Police located the subjects of a complaint of a male and female fighting next to a vehicle. The two subjects offered no indication of an assault. - June 7 at 12:43 a.m. Middleton. Police investigating a complaint of male and female arguing in the street, found instead two females arguing in the street. The matter was resolved through police intervention. - June 7 at 12:55 a.m. Deep Brook. RCMP from Annapolis and Digby detachments responded to a report of an intoxicated male in possession of several knives. The subject complied with police instruction, and was arrested for public intoxication and held in custody overnight. - June 7 at 5:47 a.m. Middleton. Police received a complaint of a loud party, accompanied by a report of a male throwing a picnic table at a vehicle. - June 7 at 5:48 a.m. Middleton. A caller contacted police to report mischief and damage to property at the same address as the previous call. - June 7 at 9:35 a.m. Middleton. At the same address, police were called in to investigate a report of smashed windows and other damage to a parked vehicle. - June 7 at 11:41 a.m. Nictaux Falls. A resident called to complain of construction noise. - June 7 at 1:00 p.m. Granville Centre. A resident called to complain of construction noise. - June 7 at 1:35 p.m. Waldeck. Patrols investigated a complaint of mobile home being moved without proper traffic control personnel in place. Upon arrival police found the proper personnel in place, but the truck was now stuck and awaiting the arrival of a payloader to assist with the removal. - June 7 at 5:35 p.m. Torbrook. A chainsaw and whippersnapper were reported stolen from a residence. - June 7 at 8:11 p.m. Hampton. Police responded to a report of break and enter into a dilapidated building. This has occurred previously at this particular property. - June 8 at 3:02 a.m. Clementsvale. A reported assault involving parties known to each other remains under investigation - June 8 at 8:34 a.m. Undisclosed location. RCMP investigated the scene of workplace accident involving an injury while operating cutting machinery. EHS transported the victim to hospital for treatment. - June 8 at 8:52 a.m. Bridgetown East. A well-being check on a senior, led to police calling in EHS to transport the senior for care. - June 8 at 9:20 a.m. Middleton. After new nets to soccer field torn down, police attended to investigate a case of mischief under $5000. - June 8 at 11:25 a.m. Lawrencetown. A single vehicle struck a deer, resulting in no reported injuries to the driver. - June 8 at 12:18 p.m. Middleton. Police received a report of a suspicious person taking photos of girls playing soccer. *****
