The Annapolis Digby Economic Development Agency organized the evening to entice Alberta entrepreneurs and expat Maritimers to take a hard look at Annapolis-Digby as a place to do business. The campaign stresses the infrastructure and networks in place to allow business success in small-town Nova Scotia, contrasting this region's natural beauty, intimate communities and high quality of life against the hustle and bustle, traffic and stress of urban life.

The evening attracted some 50 participants to Calgary's prestigious Catch Restaurant where top chef Hayato Okamitsu prepared a meal featuring fresh fish, game and produce from Annapolis-Digby including an attention-grabbing "hana-nori" seaweed salad with ingredients provided by Acadian Seaplants.

A silent auction featuring works by local artists was a hit, with some works fetching auction bids in excess of their retail price.

A number of "ambassadors" accompanied ADEDA's Mike Gushue and Kathleen Shea, including Warden Peter Newton of the Municipality of Annapolis; Warden Jim Thurber of the Municipality of Digby; Jim Stanley, Principal of NSCC's Annapolis Valley Campus in Middleton; Jayson Hilchie of NSBI; and Liz Morine of Destination Southwest Nova.

Participating food suppliers were John Sewuster of Acadian Seaplants; Danny Bruce of Bruce Farm; Gilberte Doelle of Wild Rose Farms; Peg & Chris Hawes of Bear River Vineyards; Tom & Diane Fairn; Mike & Judy Mullen; Steve Newman; Paul & Mary Robichaud; Dean Thibodeau of Bay of Fundy Fisheries; and Linda Walker of Casey Fisheries.

A number of artists provided works for the silent auction including Judy Amirault; Poppy Balser; Holly Everett; Sarah Haliburton; Kelli Janson; Pauline Kinney; Klaus & Shirley Langpohl; Elizabeth Nikitin; Helen Opie; Jennifer Quercia; Don Rice; Jay Stone; and Pat Woods.

Brian Bohaker of Tradewinds Realty; Alyn Howe & David Journeay of Remax/Banner; Jodie Moase of Royal Lepage Atlantic; and Vivian O'Neil of Remax/Banner also participated.
