Carew, Myles, Minglewood on tap for spring season

Evergreen Theatre in East Margaretsville is getting ready for its spring season, and the lineup to date is impressive, starting March 9 with CBC’s Stan Carew, followed by New Brunswick’s song-writing wonderkid David Myles on March 21.

Sunday, March 9 at 2 p.m. is Stan Carew and the Magpies. The well-known CBC host will be opening the Evergreen spring season with a Sunday afternoon show. Admission is $15. Check him out at http://www.cbc.ca/weekendmornings/stan_carew.html

Friday, March 21 is David Myles tuning up his guitar. Former New Brunswick, now Halifax, singer songwriter David Myles returns to Evergreen Theatre after wowing an appreciative audience last year. Friday, April 4 Mattt Minglewood takes the stage at Evergreen Theatre. He showed his personal side at Evergreen last year with his one-man show, mixing music and stories in a sometimes humourous, always touching evening.

The guitarist, pianist, singer, songwriter, creates an inspired blend of country, blues, folk, roots, and rock. Both on record and on stage Matt keeps the music thriving, interesting, and vivacious. After a dozen recordings and 30 years of touring from Cape Breton to Vancouver, Europe, and across the United States he has earned the respect and loyalty of thousands of devoted fans. Ted and Marion Outerbridge combine comedy with mind-bending illusions to create Magical Moments in Time, a uniquely bewitching and hilarious evening of entertainment. Saturday, June 7 brings Morgan Davis to the Evergreen stage. Anytime Morgan Davis is in town, it’s worth dropping everything to take in his show. For nearly four decades Morgan Davis has been on the road travelling across Canada, the United States, and Europe. His performances draw from a rich tradition of country blues, as well as his own contemporary songs infused with wit and a large dose of humour. Admission is $15. Saturday, June 21 Dan Mckinnon helps make the switch from spring to summer. And it’s worth traveling up the mountain to hear him perform. The award-winning singer, guitarist, songwriter, and historian hails from the Maritimes, rich in the musical and cultural traditions of the North Atlantic.
