It's shaping up to be a real race for mayor and council seats in Bridgetown with six people running for councillor spots and two seeking the position of mayor.
Nominations closed today at 5 p.m. with Nancy McGrath and Horace Hurlburt in a bid to become mayor. One of the two will replace Bob Fowler who was appointed mayor by the province after the previous council resigned. Art Marshall was the previously elected mayor.
Looking to pick up one of the four council seats are Grant Wright and Ted Agombar, former councillors under Marshall, and Janice Gattie, Jim Mann, Angela Clark, and Andrew Gilmour.
Candidates have until 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 to withdraw their names.
In the run for the District 2 Annapolis Valley School Board seat -- there won't be a race. Current board member Sue Ritchie is back in by acclamation.
