Have you accumulated overdue fines on those late library books? February presents the opportunity to assist food banks while settling your overdue accounts.
The Annapolis Valley Regional Library is partnering with Valley food banks and Feed Nova Scotia to host a Food For Fines program during the entire month of February. The Food For Fines initiative allows library patrons to exchange food items for the pardoning of fines. From February 1 to 28 only, for every item of non-perishable food delivered to the library, up to $3 in overdue fines will be forgiven. There is no limit on the number of fines that can be pardoned. (It’s important to note that this is for fines only – not lost book fees, damaged materials, or other miscellaneous fees such as printing or photocopying.)
All food donations received at Annapolis Valley Regional Library service points (branches and/or bookmobile) will go to a Feed Nova Scotia member agency food bank serving that library’s community.
So, if you have library fines (or even if you don’t), why not head down to the library during February? Through Food For Fines, you can help make a difference for hungry families in the area.
