The 26th annual Bridgetown Ciderfest kicks off Thursday with an Apple Pie Contest and continues through Sunday with dozens of events including the Cardboard Boat Regatta, Giant Pumpkin Contest and Weighoff, Ducky Race, a soccer tournament, a lob ball tournament, a car rally, lots of great food and entertainment, plus a grueling fitness challenge.

This year's theme is Sowing Seeds, Past, Present, and Future. Following is the schedule of events:

THURSDAY, SEPT. 10

12 Noon – 4 p.m. - Apple Pie Contest, Bridgetown Lions Hall

Categories: Adult, 17 and Under, Cash Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Complimentary bag of flour for every pre-registrant. (Pick up at Valufoods). For info: Call Margie Christie at 665-4460. Drop off of pies – 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Judging of pies at 2 p.m. Auction at 6pm, last dinner sitting. Sponsored by Bridgetown Home Hardware Building Center

4 – 7 p.m. - Ciderfest Harvest Dinner

In support of Jack and Jill Nursery School, Lion’s Hall

Turkey Dinner - $9.00 per plate.

Turkey and all the trimmings!

Toe tap to the wonderful sounds of the Annapolis Basin Community Band and the

All Day -- Annapolis County Special Olympics Charity Golf Tournament, Eden Golf & Country Club

Line up behind Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. Children can dress up with or without a pet. There will be several winners; all entrants receive treats. Best “Super Hero Entry;” with and without pet. Best “Comic Book Character;” with and without pet. Best overall entry.

12 Noon – Great Scavenger Hunt

Two person teams.

A display of vintage lawn care equipment.

2 p.m. - Grand Street Parade

Parade Marshall – Eugene Chipman, Canada’s oldest active farmer.. Route goes east on Granville from BDC, south on Queen, East on Centennial, west on Granville back to starting point. Sponsored by Bridgetown Pharmasave

3:30 p.m. - Rubber Duck Race $700 in prize money. Start and Finish in front of Jubilee Park. A Fundraiser for the Bridgetown Cadet Corps. Tickets - $5. Tickets available at all banks and through the Cadets. Canteen on site. Sponsored by Fraser’s Pro Home Centers

4:30 p.m. - 9th annual Cardboard Boat Regatta.

Start and finish will be at Jubilee Park. No entry fee. For 2009, there will again be a prize for the best costumed boat crew and a prize for the best looking boat as well as age group winner trophies. All boats should be at Jubilee Park no later than 3:30 p.m.

4 - 8 p.m. – 3rd annual Amateur Talent Showcase Jamboree, Bridgetown Arena

12 Noon Chamber of Commerce Fitness Challenege – Bridgetown Development Centre, Bay Road

Registration starting at 11:30 a.m. Absolutely a great way to get dirty, wet and tired while having a ton of fun. Many new obstacles to overcome. Team’s of four people compete. Entry Categories – Corporate, Adult, 13 to 18, 12 and under.

Entry Fee - $12 per team in support of the Bridgetown and area Food Bank. If possible, please pre-register at the Queen Street Café on Friday. Bleachers will be available for spectators.

1 p.m. - Terry Fox Run

Come out and support this annual Cancer Fundraiser.

Town Hall

4 p.m. - The Vernon Dakin Family Car Rally. B.R.H.S.

Cars should be on site by 3:30 p.m. $10 entry fee per car. In 2009 everyone will know where to start, where to finish, where you can go and where you can’t. The easiest Car Rally ever. Refreshments at the end. Sponsored by Pearles in Paradise
