B. Spicer Construction Limited in Bridgetown has submitted a proposal to operate a 9-acre quarry in Upper Granville. The quarry rock would be used for manufacturing aggregates used in the construction and development industries.

MLA Stephen McNeil has already spoken with the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour, and will soon contact the proponent for more details regarding the proposed quarry. As provincial legislation does not mandate a public process or environmental assessment for quarries under four hectares, he is encouraging any people who have concerns or questions to contact the proponent and the department for more information.

The deadline for submission of comments to the proponent is June 29, 2007. Submissions can be sent to B. Spicer Construction Limited, RR1 Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, B0S 1C0.
