Sheep rodeo draws big crowd in Lawrencetown

The Wild 'n Woolie Sheep Rodeo was so popular at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition Wednesday evening that there was standing room only around the Main Ring.

The Lawrencetown venue saw a resurgence in visitors after a rainy Tuesday. Crowds packed the stands at the Main Ring and horse and ox pull ring, and the Youth Arena was filled for the Little Miss and Mr. Ex competition and later on for music by Valley Grass.

At the Wild 'n Woolie Sheep Rodeo, a dozen or so youngsters donned hockey helmets and held on to the rope as the animals bucked or ran headlong back down the ring to the safety of their pen. At least three of the riders managed to hang on for long rides while a few made it only a few metres before they hit the dirt.

Wilde 'n Woolie continues Thursday night at 7 p.m. right after the unicorn hitch draft horses are shown.
